Mechanics & Awareness

Advanced Tips

  • Taking advantage of the DPS buff Promises can yield a solid DPS increase, with a risk to your survivability. Understand when damage is coming in (Eldritch casts, Crushing Doubt) to ask for a dispel before you would die.
  • Using Touch of Death and Touch of Karma on this fight is best done when you do NOT have Promises, because the damage is based off your max HP, which Promises reduces.
  • Do not try to run Lurkers Insidious Gift on this fight if you plan on utilising Promises, it does more harm than good.
  • Because your raid may choose to trigger each boss on each relic at a different time to other raids, check the “Damage Taken” tab on your logs to see the safest time to pick up Promises and use Xuen + 2 x SEF charges.
  • 1 x DoC trait is extremely strong on this fight, if you have it – use it.

Mythic

Trinkets, Talents, Traits

  • Use the tank trinket prism in conjunction with 2 x rp traits, so you can retain promises through doubt explosions, massively increasing your uptime.
  • For this to work you need an average of 10.00% haste or preferably more. prism regenerates at a baseline of per 50 seconds, reduced by haste, and doubt comes in every 44-46 seconds.
  • Get a weak aura like this one that displays your current absorbs in case timings are off and you need to ask for a dispel, remember Karma absorb won’t be tracked by it.
  • Use Karma, adds cannot be stunned, incapacitated or moved to interrupt their casts on Mythic.
  • 3 x OPS, 1 x FoX, 1 x DoC is mandatory. A second DoC, 1 x GotD or 1 x SRT are viable options. SRT requires more clone management to debuff different enemies with each clone.

Opener

Defensives

  • To absolutely maximise Promises uptime, dispel yourself with Diffuse a second before the first casts. This way you also get the damage reduction on the first hit.
  • Use Karma only when you don’t have Promises, ideally for second or last casts of Fa’thuuls add waves.
  • Having some Living Action Potions in your bags could save your life, if you get stunned by the essences. Or just reroll human.

General Links & Tips

  • 3 phases, 2 intermissions.
  • 2-3 types of add spawns, depending on how the adds are handled.
  • 3 usable relics, that give the holder a new usable ability.
  • Periods of time where you are either hostile to healers or immune to healing.

Talent Suggestions

Mechanics & Awareness

  • Void Crash is back. Be careful to not get combo’d by it with another mechanic.
  • At 100 energy the boss will cast a variation of Gift of N’Zoth, depending on which phase you are in. All 3 variations do considerable raid damage.
  • The boss casts the conal ability, don’t be in front.
  • Avoid the pink pools called oblivion tear, they heal the boss and knock you in the opposite direction you are facing, potentially setting off a chain reaction.
  • In Phase 1 (100%>70%) the boss casts two types of beams. Eyes marks an area which makes you hostile to allies briefly, and gaze applies a large DoT when you pass through a moving beam. The DoT double dips on duration and damage if you get 2 stacks running through both beams too soon, Trans is a great tool for skipping one or both of these beams.
  • The boss summons guardians which fixate the tank affected by ability. The boss takes 99% less damage if tanked near the adds. These adds cannot be killed normally, they must die to the crown relics storm. Depending on your guilds strategy, you may be asked to come and help bring them below 25% during intermissions or phases.
  • In Phase 2 (70%>45%) the boss doesn’t cast any beams, but casts terror, a large and obvious AoE that will fear and damage you if it expires. The fear can be dispelled so be prepared to call for it, if you can’t make it out in time.
  • The boss now also summons Mindbenders, and the bosses Gift of N’Zoth variation in Phase 2 heals all adds for 50% of their health and gives them a 50% haste and movement speed buff. On heroic you may not need to kill Mindbenders with the relics storm, or the Voidspawns that Mindbenders spawn on dying naturally. Just be careful not to let Mindbenders cast consume (leg sweep, paralysis and ring also work), or to kill all the Voidspawns too soon together. Too many eruptions will be dangerous.
  • In Phase 3 (45%>0%) the boss stops casting terror, but again casts beams. However replaces the Eyes cast from Phase 1 with gaze. Effective frequency of gaze doubles compared to Phase 1 so Trans is only available to skip every other gaze.
  • The boss stops summoning Mindbenders.
  • He will apply torments to DPS periodically, forcing you to “leech” health from nearby players, since you are now immune to healing. Absorbs still work however, and as a result Karma becomes an extremely valuable cooldown. Don’t be afraid to ask for an external from your healers if you need to pass through a beam.

Advanced Tips

  • This boss is pretty simple, nothing really advanced you can do
  • Convince your guild to let you sit and AOE the adds the whole time
