Overview

This fight is all about positioning. She can hit pretty hard too, but most of the fight is learning how to position to survive the rings, and keep add pools in good spots.

Our taunt-swap mechanic is Infused Strikes, and we’re going to want to swap between 3 and 5 stacks. We found that swapping every time a Domination Core spawns, and then again every time the boss casts Staggering Barrage, works out perfectly and keeps everything really consistent so that the same tank is always tanking cores.

The goal for the raid is to teleport as many rings as possible throughout the fight. This is for two reasons: the first is just to reduce overall damage on the raid and keep everyone alive while manuevering the rings. The second is due to the mythic mechanic, which splashes damage (75k Shadow damage, a one-shot for any DPS) to any players within 1 yard whenever someone crosses a ring. 1 yard is extremely small, but it’s still very easy to cleave other players on accident when crossing rings, so the raid should be blinking/teleporting/using door of shadows/any abililty that prevents them from actually taking the ring damage, as much as possible. This guide is written for the Night Fae/Venthyr strat that assumes the majority of the raid has access to either Soulshape or Door of Shadows (or something equivalent like a mage blink) and uses those abilities to handle specific rings. As monks, we can do  every ring set with Transcendence, so we do not need to go Night Fae/Venthyr for this boss, though you can as a backup.

Be prepared to use cooldowns during rings, particularly rings 3, 4 and 5, as this is when the raid as a whole will be taking lots of damage, and healers will be preoccupied not only healing everyone else, but manuevering the rings themselves. This, coupled with any stray Domination Bolts that get off  from the Core while everyone is moving, can be a deadly combination.

At the start of the fight, you’ll want to pull the boss to the center of the room. Taunt swap when the Core spawns (one tank will taunt boss, the tank that started with boss will taunt Core). Bring the core just a little off center, away from Triangle since that’s the first place the boss will teleport to.

Have your transcendence down before the fight begins, ideally at Star but since you’ll only be able to put it there before the boss spawns, near Square or X is fine as well. This is to transcendence the first set of rings.

First Teleport

After the first teleport, you’ll want to pull the boss to X. The tank that started with the boss initially (should be us) should begin each new phase with the boss, so that they also get every core.

The core should be tanked as close to the edge of the platform as possible, for all 3 cores that come out during this phase. Try to position to maximize space while the core is dropping puddles.

The 2 sets of rings that happen between the first and second teleport will both contain 2 total rings, and will always be either Star then Triangle, or Triangle then Star. Place a transcendence on X in between them to be able to port over one of them. Your raid can decide whether you want to blink the first ring or second. It doesn’t change much, but your melee may prefer to spread first and then blink, or blink first and then spread. If blinking first, move away from the first ring to spawn and then blink (you transcendence) over it, then spread out well and let the second ring pass over everyone. If blinking second, move towards the first ring instead, and spread to let it pass over you. Make sure after using transcendence, you replace it at X so that you can use it for the next set of rings as well.

Timeline

A timeline of tank-relevant events for this phase is shown to the right.

(Note that exact timestamps can vary slightly)

1:31 Bring boss to X
1:44 Core spawn, taunt swap
1:46 Rings (2), drag boss to Star or Triangle
1:48 Cross & Transcendence rings, replace Transcendence
2:04 Taunt on Staggering Barrage
2:18 Core spawn, taunt swap
2:38 Taunt on Staggering Barrage
2:54 Core spawn, taunt swap
2:56 Rings (2), drag boss to Star or Triangle
2:58 Cross & Transcendence rings
3:14 Taunt on Staggering Barrage
3:22 Teleport 2

Second Teleport

After the second teleport, there will be 2 sets of rings that have 3 rings each. You’ll want to immediately move the boss to Circle, and wait for the rings to spawn to determine where to move. For the first set of rings, move away from the first ring.

These rings will always be either Moon first, Triangle Second, Star third, or the opposite: Star first, Triangle second, Moon third.

If the rings begin with Moon, the raid will move to Square and spread out to let the first ring pass over you. When the core is about to spawn, very quickly place a transcendence on Star (a little off the marker shown, towards the center) before rolling back over to pick up the core before it becomes active.

If the rings begin with Star, the raid will move to Diamond and spread out to let the first ring pass over you. When the core is about to spawn, very quickly place a transcendence on Moon (a little off the marker shown, towards the center) before rolling back over to pick up the core before it becomes active.

After letting the first ring pass over you, wait for rings 2 and 3 to overlap and create a safe space in the middle where you put your transcendence, then teleport to that spot.

Make sure to keep the core at the edge the entire time, and try to keep it back in the corners on Diamond or Square so that pools don’t drop where the raid needs to stack to blink over rings 2 and 3.

For the second set of rings, move towards the first ring as the raid will be crossing all three. Make sure to spread well here! This is one of the most dangerous parts of the fight.

Timeline

3:38 Bring boss to Circle
3:48 Taunt swap, place transcendence (use roll/torpedo to get out and back, this needs to be quick)
3:52 Taunt core, move boss to the side opposite the first ring
4:00 Spread out and let first ring pass over everyone
4:04 Transcendence/blink the second and third rings
4:10 Taunt swap on Staggering Barrage
4:26 Core spawns, taunt swap
4:36 Reset boss back to Circle when core dies
4:44 Taunt swap on Staggering Barrage
5:02 Core spawns, taunt swap
5:04 Move boss to the first ring and spread out, move over it
5:14 Keep core along the edge, let second ring pass over
5:22 Let third ring pass over
5:26 Taunt swap on Staggering Barrage
5:30 Teleport 3

Teleport 3

After the final teleport, bring boss to Skull. We will be using transcedence to get over the first and second ring simultaneously for the final set of rings, which will have 4 rings.

The final set of rings will always start at either Star or Circle. If it begins at Star, the rings will move counter-clockwise. If it begins at Circle, they will move clockwise. You’ll want to put your transcendence down on either Triangle if they start on Star, or Moon if they start on Circle. You can remember this by moving towards the first ring. This will again have to be done very quickly between the taunt swap and the core becoming active.

You’ll want to tank the core along the edges at Skull, and transcendence into the safe spot created once the first and second rings overlap. Then, keep the core along the edges of the platform and let the third ring pass over you, then the fourth once your debuff is clear.

From here, just burn the boss and try to avoid any more rings.
